Sacred Heart Preschool is a Catholic early childhood program for 4 year olds.
The loving, caring environment that is provided enables children to begin the separation
process between home and school.
Children are taught sensitivity and respect for others while developing their language,
fine arts, cognative and physical skills through constructive and dramatic play.
PRESCHOOL CURRICULUM
Our curriculum provides focus on nine specific areas. The objectives for each area are described below.
Additionally,
specific themes are focused on each month, and are also listed below, following the curriculum
objectives.
- Spiritual:
Provide a Catholic background in which the child learns that
God made them a special, unique person.
- Social:
Plan activities and arrange materials to encourage interaction
between children and to aquaint children with social skills.
- Emotional:
Provide a loving and caring environment in which a child can
make the separation process from home to school, and when in school, a sensitivity
and respect for their individual needs.
- Cognitive:
Provide activities and materials that stimulate each childs's
growth through hands-on concepts.
- Language:
Model appropriate, rich language usage, and plan activities in which
the primary goal is for the child to use language.
- Physical:
Give children opportunities to use large muscle skills and experience
activity with a variety of manipulative materials that promote eye-hand coordination
and fine motor control.
- Fine Arts:
Give children access to, and allow them to make choices from art supplies
and different kinds of media; provide children with access to materials that lend themselves
to music, movement and drama, and provide areas that are supplied with age appropriate books
and puppets.
- Construction:
Provide a wide array of construction materials for children's use:
blocks, playdough, ec., and offer open ended activities for children.
- Dramatic Play:
Create a dramatic play center and provide a variety of props;
the theme of the center is changed periodically.

Our program offers full and half day sessions, from 2-5 days per week,
so you can choose an option that best meets the needs of your child. |

meeting or exceeding all requirements. |
| About our Facilities |
| The Preschool Program physical environment has been
designed to provide a welcoming and cheerful atmosphere offering a variety of spaces for large
and small group interaction, table time, play space and quiet time.
Restrooms are not shared with older students.
Sacred Heart operates a security conscious campus with locked buildings and access to classrooms
controlled through the school office. |
