Men

Men are vital to every aspect of our parish! Please consider the many opportunities to be involved in Worship, Education, Christian Service and Stewardship. The following items may be of special interest to men. Please contact the office for more details.

The Sacred Heart Men’s Fellowship meets at 7:00 a.m. every Saturday in the convent building, and calls all parish men to participation. As Christian men in the world, we all need encouragement living out Christ’s call to be His disciples. All men, single or married (and at least 19 years old), are encouraged to attend and grow together in the Lord. Our discussion is focused on the upcoming Sunday readings. Our prayers are spontaneous and express our concerns and thanksgiving to God through Jesus Christ.

Men’s Bible Study is a group that meets twice a month, every second and fourth Thursdays at 8:30pm in the Convent Building. We don’t have tests and no one checks your homework. None of us our scripture scholars, but we do take some time twice a month to read, study, and discuss bite size chunks of scripture. We try to discover what the scriptures actually say and then look at how they might apply to our daily lives as Catholic Men. topics we have examined include:

  • Guest speaker to address the issue of Catholic Apologetics
  • A study on the Eucharist and where it is found in Scripture (The Pope has declared this to be the Year of the Eucharist)
  • A study on the scriptural basis of the 5 Sorrowful Mysteries of the Rosary. This will be a great companion for our Lenten Journey.
  • A study on one of the shorter New Testament Letters, 1John or 1Peter
A great New Year’s resolution would be to join with other Catholic Men to study the Word of God. St. Jerome said, “Ignorance of the Scriptures is to be ignorant of Christ.” As our Holy Father often says, “Be not afraid!” Please join us if you can.

The Catholic Men's Conference provides an annual opportunity to gather with men from across the Archdiocese for a day of reflection on the role God calls us to as men. The conference includes Mass, keynote speakers, discussion sessions, lunch and opportunity for the Sacrament of Reconcilliation.

Retreats for men are planned annually with other parishes at a local retreat center. Dates are published in the Guardian.
