Sacred Heart strives to welcome and support families at all stages with a variety of opportunities and materials.
Children are always welcome at Mass. Families with young children also have options during 10:30 Sunday Mass of a
Nursery for 1-3 year olds (open year round) and pre-school religious education classes for 3, 4 and 5 year olds (Sept. to May).
Child care is also provided for Family of Faith events and Choir practices.
Our parish library has many fine books, cds and movies appropriate for family prayer, learning, and recreation.
Parents are always welcome and encouraged to participate in supportive roles in programs their children are involved with, including School,
Religious Education and CYO Programs.
The following may be of specific interest to families:
Worship Together:
Liturgy of the Word is available for families who want to celebrate
liturgy together, with age appropriate versions of readings for elementary school aged children.
Share the Ministry Families are encouraged to participate in liturgies together, bringing
forward the Offertory on special occasions, and as Sacristans, Altar Servers, Lectors, Eucharistic Ministers and Ushers.
World Marriage Day is celebrated each February with a Liturgy and reception recognizing the significant
Anniversaries of couples in our parish. Let us share in the joy of your lifelong covenant!
Learn Together:
Generations of Faith programs offered seasonally invite all ages to gather for a simple meal following Mass,
and learn together about our faith.
Sacrament Preparation Programs for Baptism, Reconciliation, First Communion, and Confirmation are
family focused and designed to support an ongoing life of faith sharing and growth.
Serve Together:
Our Capuchin Warehouse Project is a great way to spend time together helping those less fortunate.
1st Saturdays of each month we carpool to the Capuchin Warehouse to sort and package supplies.
Willing workers of all ages welcome!
Share a Morsel is an ongoing program to feed the hungry. Baskets are located at our church entrances to accept donations of food staples.
The food is used to prepare bags for those who come to our door in need, and to support St.Mary's (Wayne) Food pantry.
For children particularly this provides a very concrete way to see that what is donated at church is used to help God's people.
Many families bring a can of food as a regular Sunday donation.
Stewards Together:
Spring Flower Planting is an opportunity to make our grounds more inviting. All ages and abilities are welcome - even supervisors.
We grill hotdogs in the priests garden and admire the results all summer long!
November Leaf Raking at Mt. Kelly Cemetery is an annual Saturday event celebrating Fall, the Communion of Saints, and Hot Chocolate. Join us!
Children's envelopes with spaces to identify Time , Talent and Treasure returned to God are available as a teaching aide for parents who choose to use them.
Children are also welcome to decorate their own envelopes for Sunday Offertory.
Parent Participation is welcomed and encouraged in all programs that support and steward our children at Sacred Heart. Opportunities
range from the school PPP program, to Religious Education, CYO, Scouts and more. The best gift you can give your children is yourself.
Play & Break Bread Together!
Mother-Daughter Breakfast is an annual spring event sponsored by the Tabernacle Society. Women of all ages (even very young women) are welcome.
Father-Son Dinner has become a recent Spring tradition. Join us for fun and fellowship as Catholic men.
